Immersive Gaming Experience Designer

We're seeking an experienced Economic Architect to design and balance the game economy for our upcoming MMORPG, Ashes of Creation. The successful candidate will take ownership of crafting systems, item drops, quest rewards, and other economic systems that contribute to a healthy game economy.

Responsibilities:

  • Economic System Design: Develop overarching reward structures and currency systems that facilitate fun gameplay loops and enhance replayability.
  • Balancing Economic Systems: Maintain overall balance between multiple interacting economic systems to establish a healthy game economy.
  • Economic Documentation: Develop and maintain documentation and spreadsheet balance of economic systems.
  • Tuning and Iteration: Continuously iterate, balance, and tune features and gameplay based on feedback from team, QA, and playtesting.
  • Collaboration: Communicate, coordinate, and participate in a collaborative, interdisciplinary, cross-studio team environment.
  • Mentorship: Mentor junior designers.

Requirements:

  • Experience: 3+ years of game development experience in an economy designer role.
  • Shipped Titles: Shipped multiplayer titles on the current generation of consoles or PC.
  • Excel Proficiency: Strong proficiency in Excel spreadsheet maintenance and balancing.
  • Passion for Games: Passion for games and game development.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Technical Details: Strong ability to deconstruct high-level gameplay systems and creative direction into specific technical details, features, and tasks.
  • Collaborative Environment: Ability to work in a highly collaborative, interdisciplinary, iterative environment, while delivering under deadlines and time constraints.
