Student Preceptorship Overview
We are currently looking for Nurse Practitioner (NP) and Physician Associate (PA) students to participate in our Student Preceptorship Program. This program offers a distinctive opportunity to gain practical experience in psychiatric care while working closely with our experienced clinicians. As a Student Preceptor, you will:
- Conduct thorough patient evaluations and formulate treatment strategies.
- Learn and implement diverse therapeutic methodologies.
- Engage in case discussions to enhance your clinical understanding.
- Refine your clinical competencies in a nurturing and educational setting.
Application Requirements
To be eligible for the Student Preceptorship Program, applicants must be Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Associate (PA) students who have successfully completed their initial rotations.
Program Duration
The length of the preceptorship can be flexible to accommodate the needs of the students. We encourage applicants to verify their educational institution's requirements prior to the interview process to ensure that we can meet the necessary rotation duration.
Mentorship and Supervision
Throughout the program, Student Preceptors will have the opportunity to observe their assigned provider during both virtual and in-person consultations. Responsibilities may include assisting with clinical documentation, patient assessments, and treatment plan development. Students will gain valuable insights into the mental healthcare field through close mentorship.
Typical Schedule
Students are expected to shadow their assigned provider during standard business hours, which typically include:
- Monday – Thursday: 7:30 AM – 4:30 PM
- Friday: 8:00 AM – 1:00 PM
Patient Demographics
Student Preceptors will engage with a diverse patient population, including individuals aged 18 to 75 with various mental health diagnoses such as ADHD, anxiety disorders, bipolar disorder, depression, eating disorders, schizophrenia, sleep disorders, and substance use issues.
Feedback and Evaluation
Continuous feedback and evaluations will be provided throughout the duration of the program, focusing on areas such as clinical documentation, patient evaluations, and treatment plan development.
