AECOM is currently seeking a skilled Civil Engineer to support the Hunt Valley, MD location. This position is expected to begin as soon as available in our Transportation Aviation Business Line.
Job SummaryThe successful candidate will be responsible for planning, design, engineering, and construction for airport projects dealing with airfield safety, standards, improvement, and expansion programs. Key responsibilities include:
- Conducting civil engineering design for airport projects
- Completing designs, calculations, sketches, diagrams, schematics, and final working drawings for preparation of construction plans related to airport development projects
- Preparing construction specifications for airport development projects per FAA Advisory Circular 150/ and State requirements
- Preparing design reports, schedules, quantity takeoffs, and cost estimates
- Collecting and analyzing data to support design and construction phases of projects
- Using various computer software for design development and preparing plans in Civil 3D
- Coordinating and collaborating with other airport/civil engineering, architectural, and engineering disciplines, sub-consultants, Utility companies, permitting agencies, contractors, government and regulatory agencies, and clients
- Serving as engineering Task Leader and conducting direct task supervision and mentorship of CAD Staff, Designers, and other Junior Engineers at the direction of the Project Manager
- Performing construction administration and construction inspection
To be considered for this position, candidates must have:
- Bachelor's of Science Degree in Civil Engineering or related engineering degree + 4 years of related civil experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education
- Ability to pass Federal background check for airport badging
- Valid US Driver's License required to visit project sites, clients, and other AECOM offices
- US Citizenship required due to the projects associated with this position
Candidates with the following qualifications are highly desirable:
- Six (6) years of relevant working experience
- Advanced Experience with Microsoft Office Software
- Advanced Experience using AutoCAD/Civil 3D design software
- Experience in performing construction administration and inspection
- Read, write, and communicate effectively
- Ability to work in both an office and field (construction) environment
- Experience leading airfield design and construction tasks as part of a bigger project
