    • Verify patient identity, allergies, and consent forms before each procedure.
    • Clearly explain the procedure to patients, addressing any concerns and providing reassurance to reduce anxiety.
  • Assisting During Procedures:
    • Support interventional radiologists in performing various minimally invasive procedures, including angiograms, biopsies, catheter placements, stent insertions, and drain placements.
    • Operate imaging equipment, such as fluoroscopy, CT scans, or ultrasound, to guide physicians during procedures, ensuring precise imaging for targeted areas of the body.
    • Maintain a sterile environment by assisting with draping, setting up sterile instruments, and handling devices required during procedures.

  • Patient Safety and Comfort:
    • Evaluate and maintain patient comfort and safety throughout procedures, positioning patients optimally while preventing injury.
    • Adhere to radiation safety protocols, using shielding and optimizing imaging settings to minimize exposure for both patients and staff.
    • Identify and report signs of complications, such as bleeding, infection, or adverse reactions to contrast agents.
  • Post-Procedure Care:
    • Closely monitor patients post-procedure for immediate complications and provide timely interventions.
    • Assist in transferring patients to recovery or another unit after procedures, ensuring their comfort and stability during transport.
    • Provide clear instructions to patients regarding activity restrictions, wound care, and follow-up appointments.
    • Remove catheter lines, drains, or other devices if required, and ensure proper wound dressing.
  • Equipment Maintenance and Troubleshooting:
    • Routinely inspect and maintain IR equipment, such as fluoroscopy units, imaging systems, and catheter-based tools, to guarantee optimal functionality.
    • Troubleshoot equipment malfunctions during procedures to minimize disruption to patient care.
    • Accurately record equipment use, maintenance, and any issues that arise.
  • Collaboration with Medical Team:
    • Work closely with interventional radiologists, nurses, anesthesiologists, and other healthcare professionals to deliver successful procedures and exceptional patient care.
    • Offer feedback and support to the medical team during procedures, focusing on imaging quality and patient positioning.
    • Participate in pre- and post-procedure discussions to review patient conditions, procedural outcomes, and follow-up care.
  • Documentation and Record-Keeping:
    • Accurately document patient information, procedures performed, imaging parameters, and medications administered in electronic health records (EHR).
    • Ensure compliance with hospital policies and regulatory standards when recording data.
    • Maintain detailed logs of imaging procedures, contrast agents used, and patient conditions during and after procedures.
