We are seeking a skilled Cement Mason to join our team at Millstone Weber LLC. As a Cement Mason, you will be responsible for smoothing and finishing surfaces of poured concrete, aligning forms, and performing various tasks to ensure high-quality concrete finishes.
Key Responsibilities- Surface Preparation: Smooth and finish surfaces of poured concrete, including walks, sidewalks, roads, and curbs, using hand and power tools.
- Form Alignment: Align forms for sidewalks, curbs, and other concrete structures to ensure proper construction.
- Concrete Finishing: Spread, level, and smooth concrete using various tools, including rakes, shovels, hand or power trowels, hand or power screeds, and floats.
- Quality Control: Monitor the curing process of concrete and ensure that it meets the required standards.
- Team Collaboration: Direct the casting of concrete and supervise laborers who use shovels or special tools to spread it.
- Surface Repair: Produce rough concrete surfaces using brooms, mold expansion joints and edges using edging tools, jointers, and straightedges, and clean chipped areas using wire brushes.
- Equipment Operation: Operate power vibrators to compact concrete, and power saws and drills to cut out damaged areas and drill holes for reinforcing rods.
- Surface Treatment: Apply hardening and sealing compounds to cure the surface of concrete, and waterproof or restore surfaces as needed.
- Education and Experience: A high school diploma or general education degree (GED) is preferred. Must have demonstrable previous experience as a Cement Mason and be able to understand work directions and communicate effectively with job site supervisors and fellow employees.
- Physical Demands: Constant physical effort is required, including standing for extended periods, stooping, bending, and crouching. Ability to lift and carry at least 50 pounds personally, and up to 100 pounds with assistance.
- Working Conditions: Work is performed outdoors in all weather conditions, and the employee may be exposed to high levels of noise, grease, and dust. Regularly works near heavy equipment and moving machinery.
