Nuclear Medicine Technologist Job Opportunity
Nurse Hustle is seeking a skilled Nuclear Medicine Technologist to join our team in Peoria, Illinois. As a Nuclear Medicine Technologist, you will be responsible for performing routine and specialized nuclear medicine procedures for patients of all ages to confirm or deny required treatment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform diagnostic Nuclear Medicine procedures in a manner that ensures an accurate and complete examination within the guidelines, policies, procedures, and standards of Medical Imaging to assigned patients of all ages.
- Exhibit competency in performing diagnostic imaging and radionuclide therapy.
- Complete scheduling, ordering radiopharmaceuticals, and patient preparation guidelines.
- Perform and document administrations of all Radiopharmaceuticals.
- Maintain quality care throughout the procedure, practicing radiation protection, and maintaining personal exposure ALARA.
- Perform required equipment quality control.
- Document quality control records and images camera floods.
- Follow all conditions of MMCI radioactive material license and IDNS regulations.
- Complete all radiation safety documentation.
- Possess knowledge and skills necessary to obtain adequate lab specimens for testing.
- Perform patient bedside lab testing and associated quality control in compliance with medical provider's orders and hospital lab procedures/policies.
- Maintain working knowledge of equipment and procedures in order to function in multiple areas of the department.
- Technically knowledgeable of equipment operation and perform reasonable troubleshooting.
- Check and observe equipment for general safety and appropriate operation.
- Maintain clean work area, check and stock all supplies in their specific area, and verify pertinent accessories assigned to that room.
- Knowledgeable of Hot Lab and procedures.
- Receive radioactive packages; prepare doses for disposition; maintain radioactive waste for storage.
- Knowledgeable of thyroid ablations and therapies.
- Fulfill all documentation for IDNS requirements.
- Perform Schilling's and Red Cell mass procedures.
- Demonstrate a practical problem-solving approach to patient moving and handling issues.
- Demonstrate skills to promote patient and staff safety through appropriate use of lift equipment.
- Perform support functions of the Nuclear Medicine/PET Department to ensure patient expectations and needs are met.
- Assume personal responsibility for training fellow technologists/students and use time, supplies, and other resources productively to promote responsive and cost-effective care for our patients.
- Promptly process films and paper work to ensure timely turn-around in providing a report.
- Maintain and coordinate patient flow to ensure efficient and expedient patient care by transporting to and from the department as required and working with multiple patients at one time utilizing appropriate resources to ensure safety.
- Promptly and accurately enter patient information into RIS system and all other medical records to ensure efficient patient throughput.
- Maintain the QA, QC, and QI programs.
- Share knowledge, guide, and encourage fellow technologists/students with proper department protocol and procedures.
- Display a professional attitude in the area toward fellow technologists/students, fostering mutual respect and creating a productive learning environment.
Requirements:
- Diploma in a related field
- Certificate in Radiologic Technology
- BLS (American Heart Assoc.)
- IEMA
- Nuclear Medicine Tech Certification (NMTCB)
