Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Engineer to join our Ship Signatures Department at General Dynamics Electric Boat. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for designing and building ship components, systems, and structures that meet the challenging radiated noise requirements of our submarines.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement advanced noise control technology and acoustic analysis methods
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and build ship components and systems
  • Conduct finite element and boundary element analysis to optimize ship design
  • Design and develop electronic instrumentation and measurement systems
  • Work with MATLAB scripting language and general programming concepts
Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related STEM discipline
  • 5-20 years of relevant experience
  • Familiarity with analysis in harmonic vibration and random vibration excitations
  • Fundamental knowledge of passive, semi-passive, and active vibration control methodologies
  • Working knowledge of MATLAB scripting language and general programming concepts
  • An active SECRET clearance, or ability to obtain a SECRET clearance
Preferred Qualifications
  • MS or PhD in Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related STEM discipline
  • 3+ years of relevant work experience in acoustics, linear vibrations, classic, modern, digital, and robust controls, structural dynamics, finite element analysis, digital signal processing, analog to digital processing, signal analysis, filter design, digital system design, linear electronics, signals and systems
  • Experience with finite element analysis (FEA), MATLAB, Python, C/C++, LabView, and/or other computational modeling tools and programming languages
