The Executive Director of the hospice program will oversee all aspects of patient care, manage the clinical team and support staff, ensure compliance with regulatory standards, monitor financial performance, and drive continuous quality improvement initiatives within the organization. The Executive Director or a designated representative will be available during business hours and on-call as required.

  • Ensuring compliance with all hospice regulations, laws, and policies, including Medicare/Medicaid guidelines, on a daily basis.
  • Being present on-site during business hours or reachable by phone when off-site for agency responsibilities, and accessible after hours as necessary.
  • Directing daily operations and managing the Care Management Process. Daily updates on patient status will be provided to the Executive Director or another designated RN, such as a Patient Care Manager. This process includes reviewing patient records, referrals, recertifications, discharges, incident reports, and more.
  • Monitoring monthly financial outcomes to enhance cost-effective patient care delivery.
  • Participating in Quality Assessment and Performance Improvement (QAPI) planning, reporting, and implementing action plans based on audits, patient feedback, financial data, contracts, complaints, and appropriate follow-up.

License Requirements

  • Must possess a valid license as a physician, registered nurse, social worker, or a Bachelor's degree with a minimum of three (3) years of experience in the relevant field and at least one (1) year in a hospice, home health, or similar healthcare environment.
  • Preferred three (3) years of healthcare leadership experience.
  • Current CPR certification is required for Executive Directors providing field services.
  • Valid Driver's License, vehicle insurance, and access to a reliable vehicle/public transportation.

Additional State Requirements

  • Managerial or supervisory experience in a health-related setting for at least a year, along with completing 8 hours of educational training in agency administration within the past 12 months as per Texas Administrative Code.
