Job Summary:

At Axia Women's Health, we're dedicated to delivering exceptional women's health services. As a Cytotechnologist, you'll play a vital role in our laboratory team, ensuring the highest quality diagnostic services for our patients.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Interpret physician notes and obtain clarification when necessary.
  • Receive, access, or reject specimens according to standard operating procedures.
  • Determine specimen adequacy for cytology and histology samples.
  • Process specimens and evaluate control slides for proper staining patterns.
  • Perform proficiency testing and reporting results, adhering to College of American Pathologist requirements.
  • Gross, process, embed, cut, stain, and coverlips cytological and surgical specimens.
  • Examine and evaluate cell samples for normal cell patterns, non-malignant conditions, and abnormalities.
  • Review cases at the microscope and discuss diagnostic criteria with pathologists or senior cytotechnologists.
  • Enter case information into the laboratory information system, ensuring accurate and formatted data.
  • Document daily, weekly, and monthly workloads, as well as perform and document maintenance tasks.
  • Validate equipment, detection kits, and reagents before use on specimens.
  • Monitor pH, temperatures, and room humidity, documenting values as necessary.
  • Prepare stock reagents for manual and automated processes.
  • Perform equipment calibration as required.
  • Participate in laboratory quality management functions.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
  • Assist with oversight of Cytopreparatory Technologists.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in clinical laboratory science or a related field.
  • Completion of an accredited program in Cytotechnology.
  • Cytotechnologist (CT) certification or eligibility from the American Society for Clinical Pathology.
  • At least one year of relevant experience.
