Job Summary:At Axia Women's Health, we're dedicated to delivering exceptional women's health services. As a Cytotechnologist, you'll play a vital role in our laboratory team, ensuring the highest quality diagnostic services for our patients.
Key Responsibilities:
- Interpret physician notes and obtain clarification when necessary.
- Receive, access, or reject specimens according to standard operating procedures.
- Determine specimen adequacy for cytology and histology samples.
- Process specimens and evaluate control slides for proper staining patterns.
- Perform proficiency testing and reporting results, adhering to College of American Pathologist requirements.
- Gross, process, embed, cut, stain, and coverlips cytological and surgical specimens.
- Examine and evaluate cell samples for normal cell patterns, non-malignant conditions, and abnormalities.
- Review cases at the microscope and discuss diagnostic criteria with pathologists or senior cytotechnologists.
- Enter case information into the laboratory information system, ensuring accurate and formatted data.
- Document daily, weekly, and monthly workloads, as well as perform and document maintenance tasks.
- Validate equipment, detection kits, and reagents before use on specimens.
- Monitor pH, temperatures, and room humidity, documenting values as necessary.
- Prepare stock reagents for manual and automated processes.
- Perform equipment calibration as required.
- Participate in laboratory quality management functions.
- Assist with oversight of Cytopreparatory Technologists.
- Bachelor's Degree in clinical laboratory science or a related field.
- Completion of an accredited program in Cytotechnology.
- Cytotechnologist (CT) certification or eligibility from the American Society for Clinical Pathology.
- At least one year of relevant experience.
