Native American Community Guardian

1. Maintain law and order, prevent and detect crime, and enforce laws and regulations.
2. Respond to emergency situations, including calls for assistance, accidents, and crimes in progress.
3. Conduct investigations, gather evidence, and make arrests as necessary.
4. Collaborate with other law enforcement agencies and community organizations to achieve common goals and build trust.
5. Develop and implement strategies to address specific issues affecting the community, such as juvenile delinquency and substance abuse.
6. Foster open and continuous communication and cooperation between the community and law enforcement by solving community problems.
7. Protect the property and lives of community members by patrolling assigned areas and addressing any suspicious persons and/or establishments.
Requirements:
- A high school diploma or equivalent and two years of experience as a certified Police Officer.
- Possession of an Arizona Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) Certification or any law enforcement commission from the Bureau of Indian Affairs.
- Completion of the Tohono O'odham Nation's Field Training Officer (FTO) program within one year of hire.
- Fluency in both English and the Tohono O'odham Language (based on departmental needs).
- Ability to work independently, think critically, and remain calm under pressure.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with diverse stakeholders.
- Commitment to ongoing learning and professional development, with a focus on staying up-to-date with best practices in law enforcement.
- A valid driver's license and ability to pass a motor vehicle record check.
