The Heavy Equipment Technician Lead is a key role at J. A. Riggs Tractor, responsible for overseeing the repair service of heavy equipment to ensure high-quality results and customer satisfaction.

Responsibilities
- Lead a team of technicians to complete assigned jobs and tasks within flat rate times and re-work metrics.
- Ensure all work is performed safely, adhering to Riggs safety policies and procedures.
- Manage related paperwork and database access required to complete job tasks (work order, parts order, JSA, DBS, SIMS, SIS web, BMTS) accurately and timely.
- Maintain knowledge of contamination control and HAZMAT rules and regulations.
- Collaborate with team members to remove and install parts, disassemble and assemble components, test and adjust assemblies with minimal supervision.
- Develop and maintain technical expertise through ongoing training and professional development.
Requirements
- Demonstrate general knowledge of engines, electrical, electronic, hydraulic, mechanical, pneumatic systems, and components.
- Have general knowledge of basic hand tools, air tools, precision measuring tools, laptops, diagnostic software, cranes, and rigging equipment.
- Ability to provide accurate information to management for quoting purposes.
- Possess or be able to obtain adequate tooling to perform all assigned duties.
- Hold a high school diploma or equivalent; or one to three years related experience and/or training.
- Have a clean driving record and the ability to obtain a CDL within 90 days of hire for field assignments.
- Must be at least 21 years old to operate a field vehicle.
- Will be certified prior to operating a forklift and/or man lift.
- May be required to complete a DOT physical.
- May require MSHA certification.
- Flexibility to work various schedules, including shift work, required overtime, and on-call shifts.
Working Conditions
The employee is regularly required to stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to climb or balance. The employee is occasionally required to sit or smell.
Compensation and Benefits
The estimated salary for this position is $65,000 - $85,000 per year, depending on experience and qualifications. Additionally, the company offers a comprehensive benefits package, including health insurance, retirement plans, and paid time off.
