Role Summary: The Senior Marine Machinery Technician plays a crucial role in the installation of marine vessel machinery, utilizing technical schematics and hand tools. This position requires a solid understanding of air control systems and tubing fabrication.
Primary Duties:
- Execute the installation of marine machinery by interpreting technical schematics and utilizing hand tools.
- Analyze and comprehend standard construction blueprints, specifications, and other technical documentation.
- Employ knowledge of system initiation protocols, alignment of propulsion systems, and operation of machinery plants.
- Gain familiarity with all phases of marine construction, from design to installation and performance testing.
- Utilize essential tools and equipment, including calipers, micrometers, heavy jacks, chain falls, and torches.
- Perform tasks associated with air control systems and tubing fabrication.
- Conduct performance evaluations of installed systems.
Requirements:
- A minimum of eight (8) years of experience in the marine industry or four (4) years of continuous experience with the company is preferred.
- Proficient in reading and interpreting standard construction blueprints, specifications, and technical documentation.
- Strong understanding of system initiation protocols, propulsion system alignment, and machinery plant operations.
- Familiarity with both commercial and military specifications and standards.
- Competence in using essential tools and equipment such as calipers, micrometers, heavy jacks, chain falls, and torches.
- Some background or experience in welding is advantageous.
Skills:
- Expertise in interpreting blueprints and technical drawings.
- In-depth knowledge of marine construction methods and best practices.
- Ability to effectively utilize precision tools and equipment.
- Understanding of system initiation protocols and machinery plant operations.
- Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
