Maintenance Technician, Building

Maintain and repair buildings and equipment to ensure a safe and comfortable living environment for residents. Perform a variety of tasks, including plumbing, carpentry, electrical work, painting, and landscaping. Manage building and maintenance inventories, including purchasing and inventory control. Provide routine cleaning and maintenance for grounds and equipment. Conduct unit inspections and perform unit turns. Work as a team under the supervision of the Property Manager. Maintain good public relations with residents. This position may drive a company van and transport residents to company-sponsored events.
Key Responsibilities- Schedule and complete minor maintenance repairs as requested by tenants.
- Maintain a list of repairs completed, including building repairs, repainting, plumbing, and electrical work.
- Perform janitorial tasks, such as cleaning restrooms, laundry rooms, common areas, kitchens, and community rooms as needed.
- Respond to emergency after-hours maintenance calls.
- Recommend general improvements when needed.
- Perform preventative maintenance.
- Prepare for state and federal building and grounds audits.
- Make no entry into residential units unless accompanied by a service request order or deemed an emergency, and then only with the knowledge of the manager or Director of Housing.
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Minimum of two years apartment or commercial maintenance experience.
- Knowledge of office procedures and bookkeeping.
- Possess a valid and unrestricted driver's license.
- Insurable for driving company vehicles by FSL.
- Clear three-tier background screening process.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish).
- Ability to frequently stand, see, hear, speak, and be physically flexible; occasionally sits, walks, stoops, lifts up to 50 lbs., carries, runs, and drives; and at times may bend, climb, squat, kneel, push/pull.
- Ability to spend 60% of time outdoors, 40% indoors, withstand moderate noise levels, extreme heat, wind, rain, cold weather, operate household appliances, drive an automobile, work alone, and work with others 70% of the time.
