The Safety Compliance Advisor plays a crucial role in ensuring that the organization adheres to safety protocols and regulations concerning occupational and environmental health. This position involves conducting regular safety evaluations, providing training, and inspecting equipment and work environments. The incumbent will also support investigations related to vehicular incidents, employee injuries, property damage, near misses, and customer-related incidents involving Airgas USA, LLC products.
Key Responsibilities
Specifically, you will:
- Oversee and implement the Airgas Health, Safety & Environmental (HSE) Management System across designated facilities, performing routine audits to identify potential safety and health risks, and advising corrective actions to management teams.
- Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations, including DOT, OSHA, EPA, DHS, and FDA, at assigned locations. Aid in the development of comprehensive safety policies and procedures.
- Provide process safety guidance to fill plant locations, which includes conducting audits, documenting findings, and recommending actions to meet both company and regulatory standards.
- Advise on the safe design and operation of equipment and facilities, ensuring alignment with industry standards and organizational policies.
- Conduct thorough investigations of vehicular accidents, work-related injuries, and significant safety incidents to identify causal factors and root causes; implement necessary changes to prevent recurrence. Prepare and submit reports as required by company policies and regulatory bodies.
- Design and deliver safety and operational training programs aimed at enhancing safe practices and meeting both company and regulatory obligations.
Are You a Suitable Candidate?
- A Bachelor's degree is REQUIRED. A degree in industrial or occupational safety is preferred, or a related field that is relevant to this role.
- A minimum of three (3) years of experience in safety, compliance, or operations-related roles is essential. Additionally, at least three (3) years of experience in process safety, with a solid understanding of regulatory PSM/RMP requirements, and experience in developing and interpreting Process and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs) and participating in Process Hazard Analysis (PHA) and Risk Assessments.
- Comprehensive knowledge of DOT, OSHA, EPA, DHS, and FDA regulations is necessary.
- Proven ability to work independently and manage tight deadlines in a detail-oriented environment.
- A valid driver's license, a clean driving record, and appropriate auto insurance coverage are required.
