The Role

We are seeking an intuitive and multidisciplinary power electronics engineering intern to participate in developing various power converter platforms used in SPAN products. In this role, you will be tasked with researching, designing, implementing, testing, and validating multiple hardware and control designs used in power electronics systems.

Responsibilities
  • Support evaluation, testing, and the design of power converters.
  • Create schematics and layouts using Altium Designer.
  • Conduct circuit and power electronics and system modeling and simulation.
  • Build prototypes and assemblies and validate electronics and power electronics.
  • Support lab test setups, data collection, and analysis.
  • Collaborate with internal and external teams.
Requirements
  • Pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • Good understanding of electronics, circuits, and power electronics fundamentals.
  • Good understanding of semiconductor devices (e.g., SiC MOSFETs) and passive components (e.g., capacitors, inductors) used in power electronics converters.
  • Hands-on experience in the lab: Soldering, desoldering, assembling, and building PCBAs and prototypes.
  • Familiarity with testing and debugging electronics and power electronics PCBAs at high voltages (e.g., 600V) in the lab environment.
  • Detail-oriented and self-driven individual with excellent communication skills.
Bonus Qualifications
  • Experience with simulation tools (e.g., SPICE, LTspice, Simulink, PLECS, etc.) for circuit and magnetic design.
  • Experience using Python for testing hardware in the lab.
  • Experience working with grid and high-voltage simulators.
