Position Overview

United Global Technologies is seeking a Principal ASME Mechanical Piping Engineer to support our client in Richland, Washington. This position offers a 4-day work week and requires onsite presence.

Key Responsibilities

In this pivotal role, you will collaborate with various teams including Operations, Maintenance, Field Engineering, and Facilities to facilitate the installation or retrofitting of new structures, systems, and components that are essential to the mission of Tank Farms.

  • Conduct code compliance calculations and execute designs adhering to ASME B31.1 and/or B31.3 standards.
  • Provide expert guidance on ASME Piping codes to other departments within Tank Farms as needed.
  • Lead small, cross-functional teams to design projects that enhance Tank Farm operations, including the Effluent Treatment Facility and 242-A Evaporator.
  • Oversee the mechanical design elements of assigned projects, ensuring collaboration with other engineering and scientific disciplines.
  • Prepare comprehensive technical documentation, including manuals, calculations, drawings, reports, and procedures, and deliver presentations to various stakeholders.
  • Conduct site visits to assess engineering challenges, propose solutions, and offer recommendations.
Qualifications

To be considered for this role, candidates must possess:

  • A Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • A minimum of 10 years of experience in mechanical engineering.
  • Proficiency in ASME B31.1 and B31.3 piping system designs.
  • Experience with software tools for pipe stress and flow calculations.
  • A Professional Engineering License.
  • Familiarity with AFT Fathom, AutoPipe, MathCAD, and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong leadership skills to guide engineering teams towards achieving design objectives.
  • Excellent verbal communication and presentation abilities.
  • An advanced degree in Engineering and/or relevant certifications.
Work Schedule

The work hours for this position are from 6 am to 4:30 pm, Monday through Thursday.
