We are seeking a highly skilled Anesthesiologist to join our team at the Veterans Affairs, Veterans Health Administration. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will be responsible for providing exceptional patient care during the perioperative period.
Key Responsibilities- Evaluate, diagnose, and treat patients of all ages in the perioperative or periprocedural period
- Serve as an expert in airway management, including specialized techniques such as fiberoptic bronchoscopy and video laryngoscopy
- Document and review patients' histories, order and perform diagnostic tests, and use specialized equipment
- Evaluate for and perform anesthetics, including monitored anesthesia care, general anesthesia, and/or regional anesthesia as appropriate for the patient
- Provide acute and chronic pain management, prescribe and administer treatments, and conduct consultations or referrals to specialists
- United States Citizenship
- Doctor of Medicine or equivalent degree from an accredited institution
- Current, full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia
- Residency training in an accredited core specialty training program leading to eligibility for board certification
- Proficiency in spoken and written English
- Board Certified in Anesthesiology
- Five (5) years of Anesthesia experience
This is a designated drug testing position. After appointment, you will be subject to random testing for illegal drug use. Requires lifting 15-44 pounds, pushing (approx. 2 hours), reaching above shoulder, use of fingers and both hands, walking and standing from 3-5 hours, and kneeling. Ability for rapid mental and muscular coordination simultaneously. Must have depth perception and ability to distinguish basic colors and shades of colors. Hearing aid is permitted.
