Position Overview

We are seeking a graduate-level intern focused on environmental sustainability to support our sustainability division in the implementation and upkeep of eco-friendly practices on construction sites. The ideal candidate will possess a strong passion for sustainability and a desire to gain insights into the construction industry's standards and regulations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct a comprehensive analysis of scope one and two carbon emissions for the organization.
  • Assist in the development and execution of a corporate sustainability strategy.
  • Support strategic planning and project implementation in sustainability areas, including carbon reduction, waste management, and industry certifications (e.g., LEED, WELL, FitWELL, Energy Star).
  • Act as a subject matter expert on sustainability technologies and best practices within the commercial construction sector.
  • Collaborate with team members to ideate projects, validate cost savings, and implement initiatives related to waste reduction, water efficiency, and carbon footprint reduction.
  • Establish best practices for sustainable design and operations, focusing on recycling, waste management, water conservation, and energy management.
  • Work alongside colleagues to review and develop engagement plans with Federal, State, and Local programs concerning grants, rebates, and tax incentives for sustainability initiatives.

Qualifications
  • A bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in engineering, sustainability, environmental sciences, public policy, law, or communications.
  • Preferred experience in managing environmental sustainability programs.
  • Experience in conducting waste audits, analyzing diversion rates, and interpreting waste-related regulations.
  • Proficiency in calculating carbon emissions using expenditure data.
  • Demonstrated success in executing projects aimed at waste reduction, water stewardship, and carbon reduction.
  • Familiarity with industry best practices for environmental impact reporting and accounting protocols, including Global Reporting Initiative and Science Based Targets initiative.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
  • Possession of a valid Driver's License and reliable transportation.
