Job Summary

LEARN Behavioral is seeking a highly motivated and dedicated Behavior Technician to join our team. As a Behavior Technician, you will play a critical role in supporting the educational and behavioral needs of our students with special needs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide direct instructional support to individual and/or groups of students, monitoring their ability to follow directions and exhibit positive behavior.
  • Assist in the implementation of program components, including clinical programs, instruction, special education services, and physical fitness.
  • Collect data on student progress and assist in maintaining charts and records related to student achievement.
  • Reinforce academic behaviors taught by licensed staff and provide students with opportunities to practice and apply new skills.
  • Assist students in community, recreational, school, and leisure activities under the direction of licensed staff.
  • Implement district-approved techniques for verbal de-escalation and safe physical restraint, such as Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) training.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned and required by the building administration and licensed staff.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma required; college degree preferred.
  • 1-2 years' experience working with children in a special needs education setting.
  • Ability to collaborate and receive feedback, mentoring, and direction from peers and supervisors.
  • Demonstrated experience in maintaining a professional and clinical perspective at all times, with the ability to not internalize or personalize student behaviors or mannerisms.
  • Demonstrated experience using physical ability and dexterity to safely and effectively use Crisis Management Interventions (including the use of therapeutic holds) of all involved.
