As a Laboratory Technician at Eastern New Mexico Medical Center, you will be essential in delivering high-quality care to our patients. The Laboratory Technician is expected to foster positive public relations for the department and Eastern New Mexico Medical Center while ensuring patient and customer confidentiality. Responsibilities include:
  • Conducting both manual and automated routine blood analyses.
  • Preparing specimens for microscopic evaluation.
  • Operating laboratory instruments such as centrifuges, incubators, and blood storage units.
  • Utilizing experience and judgment to strategize and achieve objectives.
  • Engaging in a variety of tasks that require creativity and independence.
  • Typically reports to a supervisor or manager.
  • Requires completion of an accredited MT/MLT program and successful completion of a national certification exam.
  • Familiarity with standard concepts, practices, and procedures in the field.
Qualifications:
  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Medical Laboratory Science is mandatory.
  • 1-5 years of relevant experience is preferred.
  • ASCP certification is advantageous.
Skills:
  • Ability to meet the sensory demands of the role.
  • Competence in performing all laboratory tests and associated calculations.
  • Participation in laboratory Quality Assurance Programs.
  • Strong attention to detail and focus.
  • Capability to thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
