Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Container Division Driver to join our team at Old Dominion Freight Line Inc. As a key member of our OD Family, you will be responsible for safely transporting intermodal containers to and from customer locations, ocean ports, and rail heads.

Responsibilities:
  • Operate a tractor-trailer safely and efficiently, adhering to DOT regulations and company policies.
  • Communicate effectively with dispatch and management to ensure timely delivery of containers.
  • Follow instructions and documentation provided by dispatch and management.
  • Deliver containers in a safe, efficient, and effective manner.
  • Adhere to all company policies and procedures, and conduct yourself in a professional manner at all times.
Qualifications:
  • Valid commercial driver's license with hazmat, tanker, and doubles endorsements.
  • 12 months previous tractor-trailer driving experience or completion of a State Certified and Licensed truck driving school.
  • Ability to read, write, understand, and speak English, and perform simple mathematical calculations.
  • Ability to operate a hand-held mini-computer and have working knowledge of vehicle safety and control systems.
  • Knowledge of DOT regulations governing safe driving, hours of service, inspection, and maintenance.
  • Ability to work around-the-clock trips and be away from home for extended periods.
  • Meet or exceed the medical standards of the US Department of Transportation.
  • Satisfactorily pass a drug test and alcohol test (if applicable).
  • Satisfactorily pass the orientation/training program instructions by an Old Dominion qualified driver trainer.
  • Be at least 22 years of age.
