Job OverviewPosition Summary

The Transport Specialist will be responsible for ensuring adherence to the comprehensive resident care plan as well as the policies and procedures of The Cove at Tavares Village. This role involves assisting residents with their transportation needs, including scheduling appointments and coordinating with staff for all necessary travel arrangements.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain accurate records in accordance with established facility protocols and relevant regulations.
  • Complete necessary administrative tasks, including forms and reports, and submit them to the Executive Director.
  • Direct residents and their families to appropriate social services when the facility cannot meet specific needs.
  • Engage in departmental meetings, volunteer initiatives, and committee activities.
  • Participate in facility inspections conducted by regulatory agencies to ensure compliance.
  • Stay informed about current federal and state regulations and uphold professional standards of practice.
  • Foster positive public relations that benefit both the facility and its residents.
  • Analyze information to identify trends and issues within the department; collaborate with the Executive Director to develop strategies for improvement.
  • Manage appointment schedules and assist residents with transportation to their appointments as required.
Qualifications and Skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Valid driver's license is required.
  • Strong problem-solving and time management abilities.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication capabilities.

Education & Experience
  • Must have a clean driving record.
  • Previous experience operating a 14-passenger bus or similar vehicle is essential.
Physical Requirements and Work Environment
  • Must meet the health requirements set by facility policies, including a medical and physical examination.
  • Ability to work with individuals who may be ill, disabled, elderly, or emotionally distressed.
  • Work in a physically demanding and high-stress environment.
  • Exposure to bodily fluids, communicable diseases, and chemicals, along with repetitive motions.
  • Must be capable of performing tasks that require a full range of motion, including lifting and handling patients, with a maximum weight of 50 pounds.
  • Ability to move throughout the workday and function independently.
  • Must possess the ability to assist in emergency evacuations when necessary.
  • Visual and auditory capabilities or the use of prosthetics that allow for adequate sensory function are required to meet the demands of the position.
