OPPORTUNITY | The Finance and Accounting division at HR&A is integral to our operational success, managing all aspects of financial transactions, budgeting, compliance, and financial reporting. This team plays a vital role within our centralized corporate structure, which focuses on Growth, People, and Operations.

ROLE SUMMARY | We are in search of a proactive and seasoned Financial Controller with substantial accounting expertise, including 3 to 5 years in a senior supervisory capacity. The Financial Controller will lead our accounting team and oversee comprehensive financial operations, including vendor management, accounts receivable, accounts payable, cash flow management, and compliance reporting. This position is based in our corporate office.

The ideal candidate will have experience in a professional services environment, managing the complete financial operations of the organization, and possess a thorough understanding of accounting principles and reporting standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee and coordinate daily operations of the Finance and Accounting team, ensuring efficiency and accuracy.
  • Manage client invoicing processes to achieve revenue objectives.
  • Monitor accounts receivable and facilitate collections.
  • Supervise accounts payable functions, including expense management and contractor payments.
  • Conduct cash flow analysis and liquidity management.
  • Collaborate with various internal teams to ensure seamless financial operations.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop the Finance and Accounting staff, including full-time employees and temporary personnel.

Accounting Oversight

  • Ensure meticulous management of journal entries, ledgers, and the chart of accounts.
  • Guarantee timely completion of periodic accounting tasks, including month-end and year-end processes.
  • Manage the firm’s core accounting systems, optimizing their configuration to enhance automation and data integration.
  • Establish and maintain internal controls for data security and access.
  • Organize and safeguard all financial documentation and records.

Compliance and Financial Reporting

  • Lead the annual financial audit process, liaising with external auditors to ensure accuracy and timeliness.
  • Oversee tax preparation and compliance, ensuring adherence to all filing requirements.
  • Manage compliance for the firm’s Employee Stock Ownership Plan, including audits and valuations.
  • Develop and implement comprehensive accounting policies and procedures.
  • Provide analytical tools and reports to assist internal teams in achieving financial targets.
  • Stay informed on industry trends and regulatory changes to ensure compliance.

QUALIFICATIONS | Successful candidates will demonstrate strong analytical, project management, and leadership skills, including:

  • A bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance.
  • Progressive experience in accounting roles, with 3 to 5 years as a Controller or similar position.
  • CPA certification and a solid understanding of GAAP standards.
  • Experience in managing accounting teams and functions.
  • Proficiency in accounting systems and technology to streamline processes.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and data-driven decision-making skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
