Emergency Care Nurse
The Defense Health Agency Civilian Corps is seeking a dedicated Emergency Care Nurse to provide exceptional nursing services in a dynamic healthcare environment. This role is essential in delivering comprehensive care to a diverse patient population, ensuring high standards of medical attention and support.
As a vital member of the healthcare team, the Emergency Care Nurse will engage with patients across all age groups, from infants to the elderly, who present with critical health issues stemming from various emergencies.
Key Responsibilities:
Primary Duties
1. Deliver professional nursing care in the Emergency Department, addressing a wide range of medical emergencies including trauma, cardiac events, and respiratory crises.
2. Conduct continuous patient monitoring and assessment, intervening as necessary to stabilize patients and prevent complications during transport to advanced care facilities.
3. Coordinate patient care, ensuring effective communication with patients and their families throughout the treatment process.
4. Perform triage assessments to prioritize patient care based on clinical presentations and established protocols.
5. Assist physicians in executing advanced life support procedures and other critical interventions, ensuring adherence to established medical protocols.
6. Administer medications and treatments as prescribed, utilizing various routes including intravenous and intramuscular methods.
7. Operate specialized medical equipment and maintain proficiency in emergency response techniques.
8. Document patient care activities accurately and comprehensively, ensuring compliance with healthcare regulations and standards.
9. Supervise and mentor junior nursing staff, ensuring adherence to best practices and quality care standards.
10. Engage in patient education, guiding individuals and families on self-care practices and post-treatment instructions.
Additional responsibilities may be assigned as needed to support the healthcare team and enhance patient outcomes.

Eligibility:
Open to U.S. Citizens
Educational Requirements:
A degree in nursing from an accredited institution is required, with documentation of completion necessary.
Licensure:
A valid and unrestricted nursing license from a recognized state or territory is mandatory, along with successful completion of the National Council Licensure Examination.
International Qualifications:
For candidates with foreign nursing degrees, certification from the appropriate accrediting body is required.
