We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Maintenance Worker II to join our team at West Virginia University. As a key member of our Facilities and Services department, you will play a critical role in maintaining the upkeep and cleanliness of our institutional buildings.
This is a full-time position that requires a strong work ethic, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision. You will be responsible for performing a variety of tasks, including:
- Assisting with preventative maintenance tasks and working under the direction of a Trades Specialist Lead II
- Performing skilled work, including carpentry, tile installation, drywall repair, and basic plumbing skills
- Assisting with electrical repairs, including installing conduit, sub-panel boxes, switches, circuit breakers, fixtures, and accessories
- Cleaning and maintaining the interior and exterior of buildings, including classrooms, offices, laboratories, student housing, and public areas
- Operating a variety of equipment, including walk-behind and riding scrubbers, high-speed buffers, automated carpet cleaners, power lifts, and other associated equipment
We offer a competitive salary and benefits package, including 37.5-hour work week, 13 paid holidays, 15 annual leave days, and 18 sick days per year. You will also have access to a range of health insurance and other benefits, including 401(a) retirement savings with a 6% employee contribution match.

RequirementsTo be considered for this position, you must have:
- A high school diploma or equivalent
- A minimum of one year of experience in a maintenance field, including completion of vocational/technical training or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Knowledge of building trades, custodial methods, and safety principles
- Ability to operate a computer and follow OSHA guidelines and associated codes
- Ability to lift materials over 50 pounds and work from ladders and confined spaces
