Naval Staff Structural Designer

Leidos/Gibbs and Cox is seeking a skilled Naval Staff Structural Designer to contribute to our organization in Newport News, VA. As a leading naval architecture and marine engineering firm, we design and build combatants and commercial vessels for military and international clients.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop detailed Structural Functional 2D Drawings, Detail 3D models, and 2D Assembly drawings using ShipConstructor.
  • Collaborate with clients, naval architects, and engineers to produce high-quality ship design products and drawings.
  • Utilize AutoCAD and other design tools to create accurate and detailed designs.
Requirements:
  • U.S. Citizenship and ability to obtain a Secret Security Clearance.
  • Associates Degree or 3+ years of relevant experience in lieu of an Associate's Degree.
  • 3+ years of experience with Structural Design, 3D Modeling, and 2D Drawing development.
  • Proficient in AutoCAD and ShipConstructor.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with ShipConstructor and PDF Editing Programs.
  • Knowledge of standards and regulatory body requirements.
  • Knowledge of Shipyard Production/Fabrication practices.
