Deputy Sheriff Trainee

We are seeking a highly motivated and dedicated individual to join our team as a Deputy Sheriff Trainee. As a trainee, you will have the opportunity to learn and develop the skills necessary to become a sworn peace officer. Our department is committed to providing a safe and supportive environment for our employees and the community we serve.

• Attend a certified Peace Officer Standards and Training (P.O.S.T.) Basic Police Academy
• Learn and understand laws and regulations
• Develop communication and interpersonal skills
• Participate in physical fitness training and activities
• Meet standards of adequate physical stature, endurance, and agility

• Must be a United States citizen or permanent resident
• Must be at least 20 1/2 years of age
• Must have a valid California driver's license
• Must have a High School diploma or G.E.D.
• Must be able to pass a comprehensive background investigation and polygraph
• Must be able to pass a pre-employment physical, drug test, and psychiatric evaluation

• Hiring bonus: $5,000
• Loan forgiveness program: up to $20,000 towards student loans
• Employee referral bonus: $750
• Educational reimbursement: up to $1,500 per fiscal year
• Bilingual pay: $60 for Level I and $80 for Level II, per pay period

Applicants must submit their application and supporting documents to the County of Napa Human Resources department. The application process will include a mandatory, in-person Information Session and Physical Agility Test (PAT). Applicants who successfully complete the Informational Session and PAT will be invited to participate in the Oral Panel Interviews.
