Job Summary

Ochsner Health is seeking a highly skilled Patient Support Specialist to join our team. This individual will provide exceptional patient care and support to our patients and families.

The estimated salary for this position is $60,000 - $80,000 per year, depending on experience and qualifications.

About the Job

This is a full-time position that requires the candidate to work in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision. The successful candidate will have experience working with and maintaining confidential information, as well as proficiency in using computers, software, and web-based applications.

Key Responsibilities

Supports the patient and provider throughout the patient visit
Ensures the patient and provider are prepared for the visit
Ensures the patient's questions are answered prior to leaving; prepares room for next appointment
Provides excellent patient service through effective communication both over the phone and in person
Completes appropriate documentation including patient registration if necessary
Maintains required clinical knowledge, technical skills, training and credentials through personal professional development

Educational Requirements

A high school diploma or equivalent is required. Completion of a formal medical assistant training program is preferred.

Certifications

Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association is required.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Clinical knowledge
Proficiency in using computers, software, and web-based applications
Effective verbal and written communication skills and ability to present information clearly and professionally to varying levels of individuals throughout the patient care process
Strong interpersonal and customer service skills
