Under the administrative guidance of the Director of Diagnostic Imaging and the clinical oversight of the Radiologist/Team Leader, the Ultrasound Technician is responsible for conducting ultrasound examinations, which involves the operation of advanced imaging equipment.


Qualifications:
- Associate's degree or equivalent experience
- Certification as an Ultrasound Technician - RDMS or eligibility; must achieve certification within 18 months of hire
- NH MIRT License
- CPR certification within 90 days of employment

Key Responsibilities:
- Review patient medical records to gather history and relevant clinical data. Clearly explain procedures to patients, ensuring their comfort and support throughout the process.
- Select appropriate equipment and imaging parameters to optimize diagnostic outcomes.
- Operate ultrasound machinery to perform examinations, demonstrating a comprehensive understanding of cross-sectional anatomy, pathology, and physiological data to achieve high-quality studies.
- Continuously assess the accuracy and quality of scan results.
- Record preliminary findings, making necessary measurements and labeling them appropriately. Present findings to the Radiologist for further interpretation.
- Collaborate with Radiologists regarding any unusual scans and determine the necessity for rescanning; assist in the interpretation process.
- Maintain ultrasound equipment, identifying malfunctions and coordinating necessary service; ensure adherence to quality control protocols.
- Order and manage supplies, maintaining an organized ultrasound suite.
- Provide instruction and supervision to students, staff, and physicians regarding unit operations as required.
- Engage in ongoing education as mandated by the ARDMS.
- Participate in special projects, including data collection and organization as requested.
- Perform assigned tasks related to interventional procedures.
- May undertake reception or clerical duties for the Ultrasound department.
- Demonstrate proficiency in utilizing all relevant aspects of the computer information system.
- Execute additional responsibilities as assigned.
