  • Organize and execute safety initiatives that educate employees on City safety policies and safe work practices specific to their departments.

  • Collaborate with insurance providers and adjusters to effectively manage ongoing insurance claims.
  • Complete the annual insurance re-rate packet and maintain the City’s auto schedule.
  • Process workers' compensation claims and oversee medical treatment for injured employees, facilitating their return to work.
  • Work alongside departments to manage light duty administration and set up Functional Capacity Evaluations (FCE) with occupational clinics.
  • Administer drug and alcohol testing programs, providing training on related policies and acting as a Designated Employer Representative (DER).
  • Serve as essential personnel during City Emergency Operations Center (EOC) activations.
  • Adhere to the City's timekeeping and attendance policies while maintaining all necessary licenses and certifications.
Qualifications:

Candidates should possess a Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety and Health, Safety Management, or a related discipline, along with a minimum of three years of progressive experience in safety and workers' compensation. A valid Texas Driver's License is required, and completion of DOT Designated Employer Representative (DER) training within 90 days of employment is mandatory.
