Position Summary

The Lead IT Quality Assurance Analyst is tasked with establishing quality benchmarks for PG&E IT offerings and services, as well as generating and upholding documentation for the benefit of development teams, product managers, and business stakeholders. This role involves collaboration with developers, product owners, and data engineers to define project team delivery standards that prioritize quality. A strong grasp of data transformations, data pipelines, and cloud technologies is essential. The ideal candidate will possess robust analytical and problem-solving capabilities, complemented by exceptional written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.

This role operates in a hybrid model, allowing work from a remote office while occasionally requiring in-person attendance at the Oakland General Office and San Ramon, based on business requirements.

PG&E is sharing the salary range that the company believes it might offer for this position at the time of the job posting. This compensation range is tailored to the job's locality. The actual salary provided to an individual will depend on various factors, including, but not limited to, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, geographic location, and internal equity. While we estimate that the successful candidate hired into this role will be positioned between the entry point and the midpoint of the range, the decision will be made on a case-by-case basis related to these factors. This position is also eligible for participation in PG&E's discretionary incentive compensation programs.

A reasonable salary range is:​

Bay Area Minimum: $102,000

Bay Area Maximum: $152,000

Job Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the Product team to define quality benchmarks.
  • Develop test plans for product teams to outline optimal testing methodologies.
  • Engage with the team to establish testable acceptance criteria.
  • Produce clear and concise technical documentation for diverse audiences, including both technical and non-technical users.
  • Partner with the development team and product managers to communicate quality benchmarks and testing outcomes to business stakeholders.
  • Create and maintain comprehensive testing documentation.
  • Stay informed on the latest technologies, industry standards, and best practices for test automation and data quality measures.
  • Work autonomously and collaboratively to meet stringent deadlines.
  • Participate in agile/scrum ceremonies, including standup, planning, retrospectives, and demos.
  • Be open to collaborating with and mentoring other Testing Analysts.

Qualifications

Minimum:

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or a related STEM field, or equivalent professional experience.
  • 5 years of experience as an IT Testing Analyst.
  • Proficiency with Pytest, ETL data quality and validation testing, AWS, and/or Databricks.

Desired:

  • ISTQB-International Software Testing Qualifications Board Tester certification.
  • Outstanding communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Self-driven, capable of managing schedules, priorities, and deadlines to deliver quality work.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
  • Capacity to learn new technologies and software swiftly.
  • Attention to detail and precision.
  • Familiarity with the energy or utilities sectors, including safety considerations.
  • Experience with various documentation tools and technologies, including but not limited to: Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel), Adobe.
  • Versatility in writing styles and formats.
  • Experience collaborating with IT teams, data engineers, product managers, and product owners.
  • Familiarity with Jira.
  • Understanding of software development methodologies and software engineering principles, particularly concerning data-related development teams.
  • Experience with user acceptance testing (UAT) and usability analysis, especially in drafting scenarios for UAT and User Experience (UX).
  • Familiarity with Agile Scrum and Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) development methodologies.
  • At least two years of experience in developing educational materials.
