Job Summary

Key Responsibilities
  • System Administration: Evaluate system specifications, install and configure enterprise computer systems, establish standards, and maintain workstations and server systems, focusing on the Operating System and the network.
  • Network Management: Perform daily operational support on the computer Operating System, including system security, access, configuration, backups, and restores. Specify network requirements, monitor LAN performance, troubleshoot networking hardware, and ensure system functionality according to specifications and parameters.
  • Directory Management: Organize and secure directory structures, assist and train staff members in the use of department Document Management Systems, associated databases, and CM/DM release procedures.
  • Web Development: Maintain and design functional, visually appealing web pages.
  • Hardware Management: Specify hardware requirements, provide Computer Authorization and custodial receipt listings to track equipment configurations and identification logs.
  • Problem Resolution: Serve as the point of contact for problem reporting, incremental version updates, and monitor yearly support contracts.
  • System Upgrades: Make recommendations for future hardware/software implementations and related process improvements, schedule, plan, and perform system upgrades, including the transition from design, test, production, and documentation environments.
  • Operational Status: Provide operational status as required.
  • Complex Assignments: Use established policies and procedures and subject matter knowledge to complete complex assignments requiring originality and ingenuity, performed under minimum supervision with considerable latitude for independent contribution.
  • System Monitoring: Analyze system logs and identify potential issues with computer systems.
  • Storage Management: Manage and administer storage solutions, including NAS and SAN systems.
  • COMSEC Management: Perform primary COMSEC account manager duties.
  • Mentorship: Assist in the distribution of tasking from the Information Technology lead and provide day-to-day mentoring of more junior system administrators.
Requirements
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in an associated discipline from an accredited academic institution or equivalent experience through technical training, completion of a recognized certification program, or experience.
  • Experience: At least 9 years of experience in computer system-related areas of expertise.
  • Knowledge and Skills: Possess a broad knowledge of principles, practices, and procedures in computer science, graphics, and information systems. Must have specific experience in the maintenance of Operating Systems and support applications, in a centralized and distributed server environment. Must possess planning/organizing skills and be able to work under deadlines.
  • Certifications and Clearances: Must qualify for and maintain a government security clearance and possess a valid, state-issued driver's license.
