Job Overview

Wood County Hospital is currently seeking applications for the position of Clinical Nursing Technician within our Acute Care department. The Nursing Technician plays a vital role in providing both personal care and professional support, delivering direct and indirect assistance to patients across all age groups, including pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric populations. This role operates under the guidance and supervision of a physician, registered nurse, and/or licensed practical nurse, ensuring a safe and clean environment while also performing assigned clerical and administrative tasks.

Key Responsibilities:

In accordance with the direction of the supervising healthcare professionals and within the defined scope of practice, the Nursing Technician will:

  • Assist with and accurately document activities of daily living (ADLs), which encompass:
    • Personal hygiene tasks such as bathing, dressing, and grooming.
    • Mobility assistance as per activity orders.
    • Feeding and hydration support, including meal preparation and positioning patients for dining.
    • Monitoring and documenting skin care and pressure ulcer prevention, alerting the RN to any concerns.

Additionally, the Nursing Technician will engage in patient monitoring tasks, which include:

  • Performing blood glucose checks as ordered and reporting results to the RN.
  • Documenting patient intake and output, as well as calorie counts, and notifying the RN of any irregularities.
  • Measuring and recording vital signs, including blood pressure, pulse, respiratory rate, temperature, and oxygen saturation, and promptly reporting any abnormalities.
  • Conducting Point of Care (POC) testing and communicating findings to the RN.
  • Responding to alarms and ensuring patient safety by notifying the RN of any issues.

Work Schedule:

This is a full-time position requiring 36 hours per week, with variable shifts including:

  • Night Shift: 5:45 PM - 6:15 AM
  • Day Shift: 6:45 AM - 7:15 PM

On-call, weekend, and holiday rotations may be required.

Qualifications:

Education:

  • Currently enrolled in an accredited RN nursing or surgical technology program.

Certification:

  • Current American Heart Association (AHA) Healthcare Provider CPR (BLS) certification is mandatory.
