Project Civil Engineer

H2M architects + engineers is seeking a highly skilled Project Civil Engineer to join our team. As a key member of our Civil Engineering Department, you will be responsible for designing and coordinating work on multidiscipline projects, from due diligence/site feasibility studies to full permitting.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design and coordinate work on multidiscipline projects, including site engineering, regulatory approvals, and permitting.
  • Develop site layout and design, including site grading and storm drainage, roadway design, water and sewer infrastructure, and erosion and sediment control.
  • Prepare hydrology and hydraulic calculations and be knowledgeable of NYSDEC stormwater management and SWPPP requirements.
  • Perform project administration, including writing reports, gathering information, writing proposals & correspondence, tracking project costs, and completing progress reports.
  • Prepare engineer's opinion of probable costs for designed projects and specifications for public bids.
  • Coordinate with other engineering and architectural departments within the firm.
  • Communicate directly with clients in support and coordination of all project activities.
  • Responsible for the on-time, on-budget, high-quality technical delivery of all project requirements.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or closely related discipline.
  • Strong AutoCAD/Civil 3D skills, Autoturn, Excel, and Photoshop.
  • Design experience with a specific focus on site development or municipal engineering projects.
  • Thorough understanding of the entitlement processes on Long Island.
  • Knowledge of civil engineering principles and practices of related technical areas.
  • Familiarity with the design of public infrastructure and public bidding process.
  • Self-motivated, capable of working independently or within project teams.
  • Team-spirited, focused, and able to make independent decisions.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • EIT/PE desired.
