Job Description

Job Summary:

The Stevens Institute of Technology is seeking a highly motivated and dedicated Academic Support Specialist to join our team. As a Graduate Student Tutor, you will play a vital role in providing academic support to our students, helping them to achieve academic success and reach their full potential.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide academic support to students in a specific subject area, helping them to understand complex concepts and develop problem-solving skills.
  • Develop and implement effective tutoring strategies to meet the needs of individual students.
  • Communicate effectively with students, faculty, and staff to ensure seamless support services.
  • Maintain accurate records of tutoring sessions and student progress.
  • Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge.

Requirements:

  • Currently enrolled as a graduate student at Stevens Institute of Technology.
  • Strong academic record, with a minimum GPA of 3.3.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working in a tutoring or academic support role.
  • Knowledge of the subject area being tutored.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.

Working Conditions:

This is a part-time, hourly position. The maximum limits for tutoring are as follows:

  • 2 hours per day per tutee
  • 4 hours per week per tutee
  • 30 hours per semester per tutee

Please note that students may not work more than a combined total number of 20 hours per week. It is the responsibility of the tutor to keep track of the combined total number of hours per week.

Tutors will not receive compensation for any tutoring provided past the limits above.
