Material Handler III

Job Summary:
The Material Handler III is a critical role within APL Logistics Americas, responsible for providing warehouse services through safe, efficient, and accurate handling of customer products and materials. This position involves all phases of loading, unloading, staging, and storage of customer products, as well as the use of computer equipment.
Key Responsibilities:
Load picked orders or pull and load according to policies and procedures, completing appropriate paperwork, including Bill of Lading, Pick Report, Trailer Audit, and Lot Verification.
Unload, move, stack, and stage customer products and materials both by hand and using forklift or other power equipment, keeping accurate records and reports.
Accurately locate and load customer product onto/from pallets, trays, racks, and shelves according to established procedures and safety regulations.
Count, weigh, and record the number of units of materials handled on daily production sheets.
Complete specialized order processing for loading by stenciling, slip-sheeting, shrink wrapping, labeling, and consolidating as required on order.
Operating and Maintenance:
Assign and verify trailers to appropriate dock and/or yard locations, following all safety rules and company policy.
Daily inspect and repair or make adjustments before operating tow-motor vehicles, following safety and maintenance instructions, and complete the tow-motor inspection sheet at the beginning of each shift.
Prepare trailers prior to loading product by inspecting and cleaning as needed to ensure product preservation.
Reports and Miscellaneous:
Complete activity and statistical reports as assigned by supervisor.
Assist in physical inventories ensuring facility and contents are secure.
Provide other services as directed by supervisor and/or team leader, including sanitation requirements, assembling crates, and moving loose materials to containers.
Requirements:
High school degree or equivalent required.
Two years of forklift/tow motor experience, including fork lift certification, preferred.
Knowledge of inventory control and general warehouse procedures.
Light data entry skills required.
Ability to read and comprehend basic instructions, interpret documents, and operate forklift, tow motor, motorized and non-motorized pallet jack, clamp, reach, and slip sheet equipment.
Ability to write legibly and make decisions on customer acceptance based on past experience and fitness for use.
Must have basic math skills, attention to detail, and ability to communicate in a professional and positive manner.
The hourly wage for this position is $21.00, plus shift differential.
