About the Role:

We are seeking a seasoned Chief Operating Officer (COO) with a strong background in operational management, finance, corporate venturing, and entrepreneurship to help build and scale our ClimateTech ventures. As a key member of our leadership team, you will be responsible for establishing financial oversight, managing operations, and leading team development. This role offers a competitive salary and equity in the startups created.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operational Leadership: Oversee operations across all business functions, providing structure and strategic guidance to drive growth and scalability.
  • Financial Management: Manage corporate funding, grants, budgeting, and financial reporting in collaboration with the CEO.
  • Strategic Development: Develop and implement strategies to drive business growth, setting benchmarks for expansion and scalability.
  • Team Building & Resourcing: Shape a people/resource strategy aligned with organizational goals, fostering a culture of innovation and excellence.
  • Cross-Project Leadership: Leverage corporate connections and external relationships to drive project success and growth.
  • Commercialization Oversight: Guide the adoption of emerging technologies into legacy sectors, ensuring seamless integration and maximum impact.

  • Grant & Partnership Management: Support efforts to secure federal and state grants, fostering strategic partnerships that drive business growth.
  • Venture Support: Help portfolio startups grow by leveraging Gibson Watts' network and resources.
  • Corporate Engagement: Manage acquisitions and guide partners through the venture-building process, ensuring seamless collaboration and mutual success.

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience as a COO or in a senior operational role within startups or corporate environments.
  • Strong financial acumen, with experience managing grants and corporate funding.
  • Experience in climate tech or related industries is highly desirable.
  • Ability to build and lead teams while managing multiple projects, with a strong focus on collaboration and results-driven decision-making.
  • Comfortable with ambiguity and able to create structure within a growing organization, driving innovation and excellence.
