Peraton is seeking a skilled Background Investigator to join our team. As a Background Investigator, you will be responsible for conducting thorough background investigations to determine employment suitability of individuals requiring access to sensitive or classified U.S. Government information.

Responsibilities

* Conduct in-person interviews with subjects and their associates to gather information
* Perform record searches at various institutions, including police agencies, courthouses, and educational facilities
* Type and report all obtained information in a clear and concise manner
* Work independently as part of a team of investigators and under the supervision of a Field Manager
* Travel daily for in-person investigations and conduct face-to-face interviews
* Maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion
* Meet productivity and quality standards
* Collaborate with colleagues to achieve team goals
* Stay up-to-date with changing regulations and procedures
* Participate in ongoing training and professional development
* Maintain a high level of professionalism and integrity
* Adhere to company policies and procedures
* Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

* 4 years of general work experience or a bachelor's degree
* Ability to obtain and maintain a Top Secret eligible clearance
* U.S. citizenship
* Daily travel required locally and outside of primary work area
* Home office required
* Temporary Duty Assignments (TDY)/remote travel may be required
* Must reside within the stated mileage requirement
* Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
* Accurate and efficient typing capabilities (40+ WPM recommended)
* Ability to speak for extended periods and hear sufficiently to communicate in person and over the phone
* Proficient grammar and writing skills
* Ability to interact professionally with others
* Maintain high level of confidentiality ethics and integrity
* Professional attire required
* Ability to lift and move up to 10 pounds, climb stairs, walk extensively, and drive in adverse conditions

* Ability to interact with a variety of individuals and personalities professionally and effectively
* Ability to work in a fast-paced changing environment under remote supervision
* Excellent organizational, scheduling, and prioritization skills
* Proficient writing and communication skills

Target Salary Range

The rate/range per hour below represents the typical pay for this position based on experience and other factors.
