Job Summary

This Merchandiser III role is based in either Fargo, ND or Minneapolis, MN, and involves trading for the multi-commodity oilseed processing plant in Enderlin, ND. The successful candidate will be responsible for Enderlin's mid-protein meal sales and strategic execution of canola and sunflower meal.

Description of Work Performed

  • Develop key communication links within ADM to ensure optimal use of ADM facilities and market access, and understanding of market requirements to facilitate the effectiveness of ADM assets.
  • Build and maintain positive relationships with accounts that bring defined value.
  • Understand local meal markets and understand how to be competitively priced vs higher proteins.
  • Price discovery and offer maintenance to enhance risk management and pricing.
  • Have a deep knowledge and understanding of current plant operations.
  • Be able to effectively manage your inventory and customer base between commodity crushes.
  • Develop a good working knowledge of freight spreads and competitor activities.
  • Discover and execute opportunities of arbitrage.
  • Work to make quick decisions in a fast market while accepting the responsibility to defend them logically.
  • Develop a good understanding of local plant operations.
  • Handle all accounting-related issues in a timely manner to ensure good customer service.
  • Develop a clean understanding of local, national, and world market trends.
  • Aggressively make outbound phone calls to deliver and receive timely market information.
  • Ensure that individual goals are aligned with company goals.
  • Constantly work on individual and personal development within the company.
  • Work to attain positive, cooperative relationships with internal colleagues across divisions and responsibilities.
  • Effectively use communication channels for proper coordination within the office and other locations.
  • Portray a positive image of the company and self when interacting with customers and colleagues.

Job Requirements

  • 5 years of Animal Agriculture Sales Experience or Merchandising Experience.
  • Minimum of a Bachelor's degree in agriculture or business.
  • Demonstrated negotiation and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of domestic trade.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of freight spreads and arbitrage.
  • Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with end-users, suppliers, and internal customers.

  • Proven ability to work within a team environment.
  • Proven ability to excel in a fast-paced work environment.
  • Computer competent, ability in the use of spreadsheets, database, word processing, and application within a Windows-based environment.
