Job Summary:

We are seeking skilled mechanics to join our Slope Maintenance Department at Steamboat Ski Resort. The ideal candidate will have a solid mechanical and electrical aptitude, with experience in heavy equipment repair and maintenance.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Repair and maintain a variety of equipment, including snowcats, snowmobiles, and trucks.
  • Diagnose and repair vehicle systems, including engine, transmission, electrical, steering, suspension, braking, hydraulics, etc.
  • Work on maintenance and repair orders with efficiency and in accordance with standards.
  • Interact with other departments to explain mechanical diagnosis and required repairs in a non-technical manner.
  • Follow proper tracking procedures and complete repair orders for maintenance work performed.
  • Perform maintenance in a timely manner to ensure continued operation of equipment.
Requirements:
  • Apprentice/Mechanic I: Minor mechanic skills and knowledge, 1 year of mechanic coursework, basic computer competency, and ability to interpret and understand basic documented standards and procedures.
  • Journeyman/Mechanic II: Two years' heavy equipment repair experience or one year automotive tech training, familiarity with all types of shop equipment, and valid driver's license.
  • Master/Mechanic III: 3 or more years' experience repairing and maintaining equipment, snowcats, vehicles, snowmobiles, and small engines, experience working on heavy equipment, and high school or GED.
Physical Requirements:
  • Lift 50lbs at various heights and/or uneven terrain.
  • Walk on uneven terrain.
  • Tolerate extreme weather conditions.
  • Read and write in the English language.
  • Work in extreme heights, climbing towers, etc.
