TEKsystems is seeking skilled Telecommunications Cable Technicians for a significant project. Candidates should possess hands-on experience in cable installation and termination, along with the ability to manage physical demands of the job.
Key Responsibilities:
1) Proficient in pulling and terminating cables, conducting site surveys, and familiar with BICSI standards (certification preferred but not mandatory). Candidates should have sufficient experience to perform installations independently.
2) Capable of lifting weights exceeding 50 lbs, including ladders and tools.
3) Deliver exceptional customer service while servicing both residential and commercial clients.
4) Experience with COAX or fiber optics is advantageous but not essential (on-site training will be provided).
Technical Duties:
- Splice fiber optic cables, including both loose tube and ribbon types.
- Construct splice cases with attention to grounding, bonding, isolation, slack storage, and sealing.
- Interpret work orders, specifications, and engineering drawings to determine the sequence of tasks.
- Adhere to industry standards during all work activities.
- Familiarity with BICSI standards and the ability to follow design engineers' instructions while maintaining project scope and safety protocols.
- Accurately interpret underground and aerial telecom facilities from records and maps, making recommendations for construction methodologies.
- Maintain comprehensive records of inside and outside plant installations.
- Engage in engineering, permitting, and construction processes to support project contracts.
- Conduct routine maintenance and address route issues, including maintenance and cleanup tasks.
- Connect wires and cables to terminals and attach/detach hardware as required.
- Participate in emergency and outage situations that necessitate heavy construction capabilities.
- Ensure all work prioritizes the safety of clients and the public, complying with all relevant regulations.
- Willingness to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
- Complete daily production reports and As-Built documentation as needed.
