Pediatric Cardiovascular Intensive Care Nurse

The CVICU (pediatric cardiovascular intensive care unit) at Levine Children's Hospital is a 10-bed unit with plans to expand to 20 beds. This high-acuity unit is recognized nationally for excellence in pediatric cardiology and heart surgery.
The typical staffing ratio is 1:1 or 1:2, providing care for a diverse age range from neonates to 18 years old.
Patient population includes:
pre-operative and post-operative care for congenital heart defects; heart transplants; ventricular assist devices; acquired heart disease; ECMO; CRRT; and more.
Patients are closely monitored until they are stable enough for transfer to the progressive care unit.Candidates should possess a minimum of 6 months of RN experience; this role is not suitable for new graduates.

We have multiple pediatric hospitalist teams, a 20-bed PICU (including Cardiac ICU), an 85-bed Level IV NICU, and an inpatient pediatric rehabilitation unit.
Levine Children's Hospital is also the only Level 1 Pediatric Trauma Center in the area, staffed by experts in pediatric emergency medicine.

Job Summary
The RN Clinical Nurse I delivers professional nursing care through comprehensive assessment, diagnosis, outcome identification, planning, implementation, and evaluation, in line with facility or department policies and protocols under the guidance of the nursing leader.
Essential Functions

Physical Requirements
Work involves walking, standing, sitting, lifting, reaching, stooping, bending, pushing, and pulling. Must be capable of lifting and supporting the weight of 35 pounds when handling patients, medical equipment, and supplies. Proficiency in English is required. Must possess intact senses and finger dexterity. Critical thinking and the ability to concentrate are essential. Must be able to respond swiftly to changes in patient and/or unit conditions. Physical abilities testing is required.
Education, Experience, and Certifications
Graduation from an accredited School of Nursing is required. A BSN is preferred. Current Basic Life Support certification is mandatory as per policy guidelines.
Must hold a current RN license or temporary license as a Registered Nurse in the state of practice. If declaring a National License Compact (NLC) state as the primary residency, must meet licensure requirements in the home state; for non-NLC states, a current RN license or temporary license is required in the state of practice.
