As the Warehouse and Inventory Operations Manager, your responsibilities will include:
  • Overseeing warehouse supervisors, parts room supervisors, warehouse personnel, production control staff, UTA courier service employees, and Rail division parts clerks, with indirect oversight of inventory operations across all UTA parts rooms.
  • Establishing and enforcing inventory management best practices to ensure compliance across all UTA warehouse and parts room sites.
  • Managing the operation and upkeep of automated storage systems, including software oversight and equipment maintenance.
  • Identifying and mitigating safety and environmental risks within the shipping, receiving, and parts distribution processes.
  • Developing effective layout and space management strategies for the warehouse and parts rooms.
  • Ensuring inventory precision in the warehouse and parts rooms through regular cycle counts, annual physical inventories, and strict adherence to inventory control protocols.
  • Providing training on Supply Chain policies and procedures to staff.
  • Establishing robust inventory control metrics, analyzing trends, and implementing best practices to enhance warehouse and parts distribution efficiency.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS EXPERIENCE
  • A minimum of five years in materials management or supervisory roles, preferably with experience in parts handling and inventory control, demonstrating progressive competence.
  • At least five years of supervisory experience, ideally in a collective bargaining environment.
  • Proven customer service experience managing multiple customer relationships.
  • Previous supervisory experience in settings with automated material handling systems is preferred.
  • Two years of experience in maintenance or fleet management is advantageous.
EDUCATION AND LICENSES
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management or a related field is preferred.
  • To perform essential job functions, a valid Utah driver’s license is required, with no more than four moving violations in the past three years; or, if a non-driver, the ability to travel efficiently by alternative means within UTA's service area.
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES
  • Comprehensive understanding of Lean Supply Chain Principles.
  • Strong problem-solving and process improvement capabilities.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite software at an intermediate to advanced level.
  • Excellent reporting and analytical skills.
