The University of Iowa is seeking a skilled Area Mechanic to join their team. This full-time position will be responsible for the operation and maintenance of mechanical systems, including electrical, steam, and plumbing equipment. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in maintenance and repair, as well as excellent communication skills.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform routine inspections and maintenance on mechanical systems to ensure optimal performance and efficiency.
  • Troubleshoot and repair malfunctions on electrical, mechanical, and plumbing equipment.
  • Conduct preventive maintenance procedures, including lubrication, cleaning, and replacement of parts.
  • Inspect and report building problems, including carpentry, painting, roof, masonry, and plastering.
  • Establish and maintain effective communication with personnel in assigned areas and within the shop.
Requirements:
  • Four years of work experience in the listed crafts, including apprenticeship or technical training.
  • A basic knowledge of plumbing, electricity, and maintenance of steam and mechanical equipment.
