Position Overview
The Recreational Safety Officer is tasked with overseeing patient activities in aquatic environments, ensuring a safe and secure atmosphere.
This role involves maintaining vigilant observation of patients during their participation in water-related activities, responding promptly and effectively to any emergencies that may arise.
Emergency care and lifesaving interventions, including resuscitation and first aid, are essential responsibilities until professional medical assistance arrives.
Required Qualifications
Education: A minimum of a high school diploma or a Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field is preferred.
Experience: At least one year of experience in supervising swimming activities and ensuring safety in aquatic settings is required. Familiarity with psychiatric care techniques and mental health awareness is advantageous.
Licensure: Current Lifeguard Certification, preferably from a recognized organization.
Additional Requirements: Completion of Handle with Care training within the initial 90 days of employment is mandatory. Competency assessments will be conducted within the first 90 days and annually thereafter. Flexibility in work hours, including potential overtime, holidays, and weekends, is expected. TB testing and CPR/First Aid certification must be completed prior to patient interaction. Knowledge of regulatory requirements and hospital policies is essential.
