In this position, you will be responsible for the design of fluid and thermal process equipment essential for advancing the hydrogen sector's decarbonization efforts. Utilizing your innovative mindset and comprehensive knowledge of process equipment design standards, you will guide your designs through every stage, from initial concept to large-scale implementation. Your work will involve collaboration between our offices, with opportunities for a hybrid work arrangement. Depending on project requirements, travel to vendor and project sites may be necessary.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Design innovative, large-scale process equipment, incorporating integrated piping, structural, electrical, and control systems.
  • Assess piping and instrumentation diagrams from process engineering teams and suggest enhancements based on mechanical design principles.
  • Investigate design alternatives thoroughly, leveraging performance metrics and a solid grasp of cost structures.
  • Create detailed mechanical drawings and system specifications.
  • Work collaboratively with various teams, including stack engineering, power systems engineering, and product management, as well as external contractors and consultants.
  • Review and endorse Pipe Weld Specifications and Welder Qualification (WPS, WPQR).
  • Develop analytical models to evaluate stress, fluid dynamics, and thermal performance to refine designs.
  • Select appropriate off-the-shelf components.
  • Generate and oversee bills of materials.
  • Authorize products for manufacturing and assist in scaling up production through first article inspections and factory acceptance tests.
  • Travel up to 20% to contractor, vendor, and customer locations based on project phase.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • B.S. or M.S. in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related field.
  • 8+ years of experience in mechanical engineering.
  • Proficient in mechanical design, with a focus on fluid systems, process equipment, and skids.
  • Advanced CAD skills with extensive experience in developing bills of materials and utilizing product lifecycle management software.
  • In-depth understanding of Design for Manufacturing, Modular Assembly, and Plant Maintenance.
  • Proven track record of guiding products from concept to manufacturing.
  • Familiarity with ASME B31.3, 31.12, BPVC, and other relevant industry codes and standards.
