Forest Protection Program Assistant

We are seeking highly motivated and experienced individuals to join our team as Seasonal Resource Assistants in the Forest Protection Program. As a key member of our team, you will play a critical role in supporting the Department of Energy and Environmental Protection's (DEEP) forestry division in protecting and preserving Connecticut's natural resources.
Job Responsibilities- Assist in wildfire suppression, equipment maintenance, and hazard mitigation work
- Perform tasks related to the maintenance and operation of DEEP-managed lands and facilities
- Operate necessary equipment, perform routine preventative maintenance, and drive fire response vehicles
- May perform basic clerical duties and assist with prevention program involvement
- Valid driver's license required
- Prior firefighting experience preferred
- Experience with fire/wildfire response, building and maintaining fire equipment, chainsaws, GPS, and/or Avenza
- CDL license or Q equivalent for fire apparatus preferred
Incumbents in this class must possess and maintain adequate physical strength and stamina to perform the duties of the class. May be required to work in a fast-paced environment with varying weather conditions.
