Job Summary

This role is a vital part of our ambulatory clinics, providing support to our healthcare team. The successful candidate will be responsible for completing pre-authorizations, assisting with patient assistance programs, scheduling patients, and communicating with patients and clinical staff. Additionally, they will be involved in managing parts of the medication use cycle and collaborating on projects with other departments.

Essential Functions
  1. Pull, transcribe, and organize clinical information from patient charts into third-party platforms or navigators.
  2. Complete authorization requests in a timely and efficient manner, ensuring patients receive their care as scheduled.
  3. Identify and schedule appointments for pharmacists from provider referrals, quality reports, and other available registries.
  4. Demonstrate the ability to utilize all payer websites to assist verifying patient's coordination of benefits and authorization requirements.
  5. Assist with inventory and medication use cycle tasks if in clinic.
  6. Organize and track data for multiple payer programs and service lines.
  7. Communicate positively and effectively with patients, colleagues, and clinic staff.
  8. Adhere to all department procedures, guidelines, and standard work with the ability to utilize resources appropriately.
Qualifications

Required:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent

Preferred:

  • Associate's Degree
  • 1 year of relevant experience in Retail or Ambulatory Pharmacy
  • 1 year of relevant experience in Prior Authorization or Insurance Navigation
  • 1 year of relevant experience in Epic

Required Licenses/Certifications:

  • LIC-Pharmacist Intern - STATE_MI State of Michigan Upon Hire required
  • LIC-Pharmacy Technician Temp - STATE_MI State of Michigan Upon Hire required
  • LIC-Pharmacy Technician - STATE_MI State of Michigan 90 Days required

Preferred Certifications:

  • CRT-Pharmacy Technician, Certified (CPHT) - PTCB Pharmacy Technician Certification Board
  • CRT-Exam for the Certification of Pharmacy Technicians (ExCPT) - NHA National Healthcareer Association

This position will support Diabetes and Endocrinology. The ideal candidate will be a Pharmacy Technician possessing Full Michigan License and National Certification, such as PTCB. Retail/Community Pharmacy experience, Specialty Pharmacy, or Prior Authorization experience would be a big plus. Familiarity with prescription formularies and patient assistance programs would be excellent. The ideal candidate will be friendly, teachable, highly motivated, and organized/detail-oriented.

No Remote work until after 6 months of training and able to work completely independently.
