12:00 P.M - 8:00 P.M (Rotating Weekends as required)

Position Summary:
The Cashier plays a vital role in managing financial transactions within the healthcare setting. This position is responsible for collecting payments, verifying insurance information, and ensuring a smooth financial process for patients being discharged.

Key Responsibilities:
• Collect and reconcile payments from patients in the Main Cashier area.
• Verify patient data, including insurance and demographic information, within the financial system.
• Review self-pay accounts daily and refer non-compliant patients for financial counseling.
• Process various payment methods, including credit cards, cash, and checks for medical services.
• Prepare daily deposits for all transactions and utilize electronic deposit systems.
• Distribute Medicaid Metro-Cards after confirming eligibility.
• Conduct daily reconciliation of Metro-Cards and manage special account distributions for uninsured patients.
• Coordinate transportation requests for discharged patients, ensuring all necessary verifications and authorizations are completed.
• Uphold the mission and values of NYC Health + Hospitals in all duties performed.

Qualifications:
1. High School Diploma or equivalent with at least one year of experience in cash handling roles.
2. Alternatively, two years of relevant experience may be considered.

Preferred Skills:
• Strong interpersonal and customer service skills.
• Proficient in computer usage for daily tasks.
• Basic data entry and mathematical skills.
