Job Title: Assistant Professor of Music Theory

The Glenn Korff School of Music at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln is seeking a highly qualified Assistant Professor of Music Theory to join our faculty. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in music theory, advising students, and contributing to the development of our music theory curriculum.

Responsibilities:
  • Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in music theory, including coordination of undergraduate curricula across multiple sections with other instructors.
  • Advise students pursuing the MM in music theory and participate on supervisory committees for master's and doctoral students in other music fields.
  • Establish and maintain a program of outstanding scholarly productivity in the field of music theory that contributes to national and international discussions of the discipline.
  • Serve on committees, serve in professional organizations, and work in a collegial fashion with faculty, staff, students, and administration.
Requirements:
  • Doctoral degree in music theory completed by the first day of employment.
  • Evidence of potential for building a record of scholarship in music theory.
  • Expertise or experience in pedagogical or curricular innovation in music theory.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Collegiate teaching experience in music theory.
  • Record of scholarship in music theory.
  • Evidence of the ability to foster an inclusive and diverse academic environment.
